How are Florida Chiropractic and Sports Rehab Centers different from other Chiropractic Offices?

There are too many reasons to list in this forum, but the most important is that we want to get you better and discharged as quickly as possible. We have studied and have been certified in numerous techniques, none of which are taught at Chiropractic Colleges. Because of this, we do not have to manipulate (crack) our patients to get the results we come to expect. We effectively relieve our patients’ symptoms and keep them out of pain for a longer period of time. Our goal is not only to rid our patients’ pain, but we work to improve their function and return them to doing what they love, whether playing tennis, golf, running, etc. – QUICKLY. Our patients will not and should not except when their doctor tells them to stop doing what they enjoy.

I have seen other Chiropractors or Physical Therapists in the past with little to no relief.

It is disturbing to us when a patient comes in for their first visit and we see the type of treatment they are receiving elsewhere. Often patients are shown improper exercise form or are given the wrong exercises for their condition, which will not only prevent them from getting better but will actually make their symptoms worse. A major problem in Chiropractic and Physical Therapy is there are numerous ways to practice. Most patients and Medical Doctors do not know this. The colleges prepare us to practice and it is up to each individual Chiropractor to learn more on their own. Similar to when a medical student graduates from medical school they have to complete a residency. Unfortunately most Chiropractors and therapists do not put in the extra time needed to develop more solutions for their patients. At Florida Chiropractic and Sports Rehab Centers, we have studied and have been certified, all post graduate, as Chiropractic Sport Physician, Athletic Trainer, Active Release Technique, Graston, Cox Flexion-Distraction, Loomis System of Enzyme Therapy, USA Olympic Weightlifting Sport Specific Coach, and Acupuncture. Our techniques, combined with our evidence-based approach, produces results our patients expect in an efficient timeframe and helps them stay out of pain for a longer period of time.

What should I expect during my first visit?

On your first visit you will receive a comprehensive neurological and orthopedic examination. This is the exact same examination you would receive at a neurologist, orthopedist or neurosurgeon. In fact, we have been told it is more in-depth than most general practitioners. The examination also includes joint and muscle function/strength tests, flexibility evaluation, and if necessary, gait analysis or other dynamic tests. X-ray will be taken if needed. Depending on each individual’s diagnosis, a rehab program, including strength and flexibility is designed specifically for each patient. The first visit usually takes at least one hour. To decrease the time for the first visit, please download and fill out the forms found on this website . We recommend you bring gym shorts and a tee shirt for the first visit.

Do I have to pay for my treatments in advance?

Be weary of centers that charge in advanced for a set amount of therapy sessions. At Florida Chiropractic and Sports Rehab Center we do not sell care plans. There is no way any doctor can tell you how many visits it will take to cure your problem, so why should we charge you before you start treatment? We treat each patient as needed and discharge him or her from care with an exercise program. The program should keep them out of our office and pain free.

I heard you could become addicted to Chiropractic and have to go for the rest of your life?

Due to the techniques we use, after your symptoms disappear and you continue with your stretching and strengthening program, you do not feel the need to continually come in for treatment. We do have patients that see us regularly to get treated and review and/or progress with their exercises. For the patients that request this, we are happy to oblige. We offer no maintenance plans at our center.

What should I expect for subsequent visits?

Each visit starts with a message therapy session to loosen up the patient’s tight muscles. Then physical therapy modalities are used to further decrease muscle spasms and inflammation. After the muscles are loosened, each patient works with a doctor for an additional 15 minutes. After the treatment the patient enters our gym where exercises and stretches are carried out by doctors, athletic trainers and strength and conditioning coaches. We take pride in the prescriptions we develop and the way we execute each program. We recommend you bring gym shorts and a tee shirt for each visit.

Is it true Chiropractors do not work with medical doctors and do not believe in medications, injections, and/or surgery?

In most cases this is true. At Florida Chiropractic and Sports Rehab Centers, our goal is to help our patients without using the above modalities; however, it is sometimes necessary. We have very strong relationships with other Medical Doctors, Surgeons, Pain Management Doctors (doctors that administer injections), which we refer patients to when clinically warranted. In fact, other than from satisfied patients, the majority of our new patient referrals come from Surgeons, Pain Management Doctors and general practitioners. That is unique for Chiropractors.

Can Enzymes really help with my pain?

Inflammation is a build up of protein. Protease is natural enzyme found in fruits and vegetables that eats protein. Protein is needed for growth, repair, and heeling. When using enzymes as a digestive aid, they allow for better protein digestion and absorption for more efficient results. By adding protease, other enzymes and anti-inflammatory agents, we can significantly speed up the healing process.
